Aryeman - Influencing is a like a high-octane drug.

There are some interviews that set your mind ticking, thinking and force you to change your mind-set. This one is just all of this and much more. Speaking to Aryeman was a power-packed, punch-loaded and invigorating experience. He has the makings of a power-house and has had success stories in all the ventures he has taken up.

Besides being an author, influencer, media monkey, Aryeman has also dabbled with making short films for international film festivals, is an inspirational coach and also a meme maker. He has tasted success in all his projects and one of the few who claimed that ‘2020 was the most fruitful year’ for him. Without much ado, we leave you to revamp your lives, pick up the nuggets of wisdom from his mind-blowing revelations.

The interview:

Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started and attained the position of an influencer?

I have been a media monkey most of my life. Writing wasn’t just a passion for me but a way of life. I always believe that one must be vocal about one's feelings, thoughts and that’s where the ‘reviewer’ side of me shines strongly. Being part of the entertainment world, I realized that my voice was being submerged by the publications that I worked for and the choice of critical writing had constraints.

I progressed (yes, I consider it as a progression) towards blogging and being my own Boss. This created wonders for my persona, people loved looking at things differently. Influencing didn’t happen by chance for me, I always create opportunities and this led me to start charging for some of  the reviews and event attendance invites I got. Today, I have branched out as an author too, which elevates my influencer position.

How important is authenticity to your review when it comes to influencer marketing? How do you maintain your authentic voice, viewpoints and recommendations on your social media while still partnering with brands?

The famous saying, ‘Jo dar gaya, samjho mar gaya’ holds validity for me. I have believed in calling a spade a spade, it’s just that I have matured and toned my reviews with experience. For me, the sanctity of truth holds prominence and that’s what interests my readers. Maintaining a balance with the brand ideology is important and brands who insists on reading what will go out on social media upfront are shunned by me.

Have there been any brands or promotions you have refused since you didn’t believe in them?

There have been some funny and vague collabs that have come my way. The modus operandi here has been to quote a high price which at times the brand did agree on. Fortunately despite all my conditions being met, the brand accepted the critical reviews as constructed feedback. What followed next was being offered to be a script consultant for the future web series. So technically, I learnt that being critical has its positives if your judgmental ideas and creative instincts are strong to create opportunities.

How do you plan the brand promotion in case of collaborations? What is the modus operandi you follow?

Most times, the brand PR aren’t aware of the hidden USP’s with the brand. My task is to revolutionize some plus points which have strong sales elements attached to it. After all, the product has to sell and not just get ‘pod-based likes’ from fellow bloggers. My modus operandi is to provoke the online buying and spending capacity target audience.

Do you take advance part-payments before you start creating content for a brand? How do you safeguard your payments? Any cases where you haven’t been paid your dues?

Fortunately, I take few campaigns which I believe will go well with the image I want for myself. I would rather not do a campaign where there is long, stretched payment plan. Yes, I have been asking for advance payments and make my terms clear to the brand PR. They may opt for low-cost or free collab influencers, it doesn’t really bother me. Direct deals with the brands is always better since they are on the same page as you are. It always been my way or you can take the highway.

What platform, besides Instagram, do you think will be big in influencer marketing for 2021?

Instagram, Facebook and Quora will continue to rule the roost, no matter how many short video apps are introduced. I focus on Facebook majorly since I have innumerable Facebook pages, accounts and groups which have high engagements and audience reach. These are under generic names and only my regular brands are aware of the mileage and noticeability they get. For most collabs, I offer a 360 degree campaign for the brand and not just limit it to my Instagram profile. For me, influencing is a like a high-octane drug and the power of the written word is more powerful than a fancy, sexy picture posted by a young influencer.

Do you have any big goals as an influencer for 2021?

I always dwell on short term goals. I don’t limit myself to just a Plan B in my life, I have my progress sheet chalked out to Plan XYZee also. There is a constant homework on with my ticking brain, which plan works faster and pays me premium brownie points is laid out on the buffet table.

2020 was the most fruitful year for me, this seems quite shocking for most. As a Meme content creator, I contribute (and paid by my standards) to almost forty well-established meme pages. Content creation in the form of one liners, tweets, and other dynamic variations for political parties, film promotions, brand visibility are quick, easy money for me.

2021 will surely see more of my invisible mode being activated with greater vengeance and innovative, untouched avenues.
