Organic fruits and veggies have seen a boom in Mumbai. Most people are now opting for such varieties so that they are assured of chemical free consumption of local produce.
One such brand is Auroch Agro Products Private Limited (A2P2L)
which is the pioneer in commercial Dragon Fruit Farming in India. Started in
2014, they are the oldest and the largest farmers, growers, and consultants for
the Certified Organic Red Flesh Dragon Fruit in India. They have also
been conferred with an award from Gujarat State Government for Progressive
Farming and have been featured in a lot of interviews in print and electronic
media. Their farms have also been featured in PM Narendra Modi Mann Ki Baat.

Based on the popularity of the brand, WHAT’S HOT IN MUMBAI
decided to try-and-test out their coloured cauliflower range. We also did a
litmus test to verify if there are any colour bursts if the produce was placed in
a bowl of water for long. And viola, the produce came out clean.
Our review:
How does it taste?
Coloured cauliflower is available in green (also known as Broccoflower),
purple and orange varieties. Although it may look different than the popular
white cauliflower, the taste is just the same - mild, sweet and nutty. What we
noticed with this brand was the cauliflowers were crunchier and fresher.

Can you boil coloured cauliflowers?
It will get somewhat muted in cooking if boiled or cooked past crisp-tender, so you won't get an intense violet mash. But the colour seems more appealing to kids. Parents can surely experiment with these and create some exciting recipes or salads.
Are the cauliflowers artificially coloured to increase sales?
Plant breeders developed coloured varieties of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea botrytis) naturally, not by genetic modification. Orange and purple varieties contain vitamins and healthful nutrients not found in white cauliflower. So basically, there are 4 coloured cauliflowers - green that is broccoli, the regular white and these purple and orange. The purple is considered to be supreme and has a great market value.
Shelf life?
Like most veggies, the shelf life is approximately 4 days.
