Monsoon Medley Menu at JULIUS, Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel is an enticing treat.

Europe is home to many iconic dishes that have become staples worldwide. From the creamy sauces of French cuisine to the savory sausages of Germany, these dishes embody the essence of their respective countries and are a must-try for any food connoisseur. European food is enticing for several reasons, thanks to its rich diversity, historical influences, and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. While there are few restaurants in Mumbai which cater to a full-fledged European menu, we started our food trail to explore the bold yet vibrant flavours of the cuisine.

Taking our exploration for gastronomic delights, our next #MonsoonMenu took us to Julius at Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel. Our journey took us to the heart of Europe and we savoured some meticulously crafted European-inspired dishes and cocktails from their new, limited edition menu.

WHAT'S HOT IN MUMBAI loved the cozy ambience which had an eclectic feel about it. The menu has been creatively crafted to offer the best of flavours which go in sync with the Monsoon season. JULIUS is a sure-shot visit choice for the Food Connoisseur who would love to experiment with superlative fine-dining European flavours. Surely adding this place to our regular go-to hangouts especially since they have some smashing cocktails too.

Our recommendations:

We started with the Roasted fig and goat cheese salad which created magic without an overdose of the dressing. The salad combines the sweetness of roasted figs, the juiciness in them is something we have never savored. The creamy tanginess of goat cheese (a lilting version of the cheese) creates a harmonious balance. The figs, when roasted, develop a caramelized exterior that enhances their natural sweetness, while the goat cheese adds a rich, creamy contrast. A must try for sure.

Next in queue was the Hot peas and Manthan soup – a superb treat with simplistic yet alluring flavors is a delectable feel-good soup. The deep, satisfying flavor is surely comforting and robust. The cheese puffs add a bit of bite and variety to the texture, which is a dramatic change. The mint leaves add the flavour tinge to it. Wish there was a drizzle of the olive oil to enhance the flavour.

For the mains, the Chorizo and lamb cassoulet served with couscous is stunning, with bold flavours – the soft succulent lamb pieces are a treat. The combination of chorizo and lamb in a cassoulet created a rich, hearty dish that was perfect for a cozy meal. The chorizo and lamb bites had a smoky, slightly spicy flavor that paired well with the veggies. The slow cooking process which allows the gravy to absorb the rich flavors from the lamb and other ingredients make this a deeply flavorful and satisfying meal.

The Beans Verta nourishing dish featuring white beans, kale, baby potato, and carrot is an ideal choice for vegetarians.

We did order a small portion of the Ravioli and tapenade ragout (not part of the Monsoon menu) and we wished we could have eaten more of it.

We were impressed with their cocktail menu which has taken inferences' to various historical icons a La Julius to the cocktail names. We tried the 'Cassius' lives up to its name and a perfect choice for whiskey lovers. The mocktail 'Crastinus' was perfect and refreshing. We skipped the dessert which we will make sure we try soon.
