In
the ever-evolving landscape of the hospitality industry, Five-star properties
must prioritize innovation to maintain their status as culinary leaders. One
effective way to achieve this is through the introduction of new food festivals
that not only showcase diverse cuisines but also create unique dining
experiences for guests. By regularly hosting these events, luxury
establishments can engage diners’ senses, celebrate culinary creativity, and
foster a sense of community.
One such
hotel property which has always been committed to innovation and has enhanced
guest satisfaction is the Kamat Group of Hotels. This group has constantly strengthened
brand loyalty, ensuring that these properties remain top-of-mind for discerning
travelers seeking exceptional gastronomic adventures.
Keeping their rich legacy of authentic Indian gastronomy alive, the Kamats have hosted a unique Gujarati food experience at The Orchid Hotel, Mumbai. The line-up of varied food festivals in the recent year have always evoked us with thrilling moments of food flavors and enhanced our journey for gastronomic delights.
What makes ‘Gujarat Ni

One of the
festival’s highlights is the Kathiyawad cuisine, a beloved part of Kutch’s food
traditions among other delicacies from the state. Chef Poonam Dedhia, a master of Gujarati flavors and THE TORCH BEARER
OF THE GUJARATI CUISINE, has meticulously designed a menu that brings this
regional cuisine to life, offering a feast of textures, flavors, and aromas.
Chef Poonam has always added the extra touch to the menu by incorporating the
rustic, authentic flavors with a dynamic touch to the lost recipes of the Gujarati
cuisine.
Our review:
WHAT’S HOT
IN MUMBAI thoroughly enjoyed every dish on the buffet which was loaded with
exotic flavors and is surely a delectable meal to be savoured by the entire
family. The menu is served on a buffet with constant attention from the serving
team to ensure every diner is well-taken care of. The ambience has been
skillfully curated to match the theme of the food festival.
Since the menu keeps changing on a
daily basis, you must savour some lost recipes like Bhaji na Muthiya, Gajar
Ni Kheer, Gujarati Kadhi, Ringan-Marcha-Batata Nu Shaak. Being die-hard
fans of the Gujarati cuisine, we relished the fine nuances of flavour bursts
which have been imparted to the dishes with rustic spices and condiments. Chef
Poonam Dedhia shared her anecdotes and memories of being guided on the fine
points from her mother. Her passion for promoting the hidden gems of the menu
have made Poonam a ‘much sought after’ Chef for pop-ups in various cities and
hotel properties.
